Ken Suslick elected as Honorary Member
Prof. Ken Suslick has been elected as ESS Honorary Member by the ESS Board.
Congratulations to Ken!
There is no doubt on the huge impact that Ken has had and still has on sonochemistry advances. He joins other sonochemistry founding fathers in the Honorary Board.

Ultrasonics Sonochemistry – Special Issue
A new Special Issue is announced in Elsevier’s Ultrasonics Sonochemistry, entitled “Advances in Ultrasound-Assisted Minerals & Metallurgical Processing”. Guest Editors are Xiangning Bu, Tom Van Gerven and Libo Zhang. The submission deadline is September 1, 2026.

2025 ESS Mobility Award Winners!

AOSS 6 conference, 3-5 December 2025, Kawasaki, Japan
The 6th Meeting of the Asia-Oceania Sonochemical Society (AOSS-6, 2025) in conjunction with the 34th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Sonochemistry (JSS) will be held from 3 till 5 December 2025 in Kawasaki, Japan. Applications for the presentation are now being received here, and the deadline is August 18. JSS gives a Young Researcher Award to young researchers and students for their presentations at the annual meeting held every year. This year's AOSS 6 will be jointly hosted with the JSS Annual Meeting, and we would like to give the Young Researcher Award selection as part of the JSS. Of course, presentations from international participants will also be included in the consideration for the Award.

Ultrasonics Sonochemistry – Special Issue
A new Special Issue is announced in Elsevier’s Ultrasonics Sonochemistry, entitled “How do Intrabubble Conditions Influence Sonochemical Reactivity? (VSI: Cavitation Bubbles and Sonochemical Activity)”. Guest Editors are Sergey I. Nikitenko, Rachel R. Pflieger and Glyus L. Sharipov. The submission deadline is September 10, 2025.
French National Congress on Ultrasound and Sonochemistry
The French National Congress on Ultrasound and Sonochemistry, organized by the French National Network Cavitation will take place from July 7 till 9, 2026, in Grenoble,. The conference is open to all French-speaking researchers, companies, students, etc. willing to participate or to make an oral presentation.

ESS Travel Grants: CALL 2025
The European Society of Sonochemistry supports travel grants for young researchers (MSc-student, PhD-student, post-doc with max. 3 years seniority) for a short research visit to another academic lab. The present call opens March 15th 2025 and closes May 15th 2025. The research visit should be completed by end of June 2026. To apply, send the completed document by e-mail to the ESS chairman before the call closure.
The grant includes:
- Travel to and from the location of the research visit. Tickets can be refunded (with a maximum of 800 euro) upon proof with invoices to be sent to the ESS treasurer.
- Waiving of the registration fee for the next ESS meeting in 2026 (Athens, Greece), where the results of the research visit are expected to be presented.
- Waiving of the Author Publication Cost (APC) when the results are submitted in a manuscript to Ultrasonics Sonochemistry; the manuscript has to be accepted before the end of 2026.
The criteria on which the submitted files are evaluated by the ESS Board are:
- Technical quality of the project (scientific and societal impacts, creation of knowledge, etc.).
- Sending and receiving institutions must both include an ESS member.
